I am homosapien and we are stronger together!

We are stronger together!

This has been said in the Covid-19 pandemic, from Europe to Canada; from provinces to states.

Who is "We"?

Some politicians "spin" the pandemic to find enemies to blame and say "We are stronger together" to make heroes of themselves.

There is no one to blame causing it or making it worse.

It is neitherTrump, nor China to blame. It is THE VIRUS.

We are in a war between human and Covid-19.

I wait for one politician says:
"I am homosapien and we are stronger together!"

Wisdom on a Bench

I enjoy being old in someways.

Going to bed and getting up earlier than when I was young.

Lives are different in the morning, ready to wake up, to bloom, to shine and to party.

After my dog walked me and exercised me and my wife in the "Birth Place Forest" that morning, we sat on a bench to enjoy the moment and saw a few pebbles on the ground stand out with unique shapes, colours and with words written on.

They told me a story about how a mother loss her daughter at age 15 a few years ago.

I remember the days when my kids were in high schools. It was just too frightening to imagine if I were to lose them.

When I was in deep sadness, I saw a plaque on the back of the bench, read:

“What we once enjoyed and deeply loved we can never lose,
For all that we love deeply becomes a part of us.”

An Intellectual (Non-Romantic) Proposal

Boy: "You are so beautiful, I fell in love with you at first sight. Will you marry me?"

Girl: "My look is not me. I didn't choose to be beautiful. What happens when a I am no longer beautiful, from aging or a car accident, will you still love

me?"

Boy: "You are also kind and nice, I love your big heart and loving nature."

Girl: "It is my nature to be this way. One day when a I have frontotemproal dementia, being violent and angry, will you still love me?"

Boy: "Yes, I will always love you when your look or your heart changes. I will love you for who you are and whoever you will be. I will enjoy protecting and

looking after you forever. Will you marry me"

Girl: "Yes, I will marry you for Your surging and blinding courage of love for me. As for tomorrow, let's leave it where it belongs. Whatever will be will

be."

Old and Not Rich

Years ago, I bought my first car. It was a small car and I wanted it white because people said white cars looked bigger. It made great sense to me.

Now thinking back, when driving, only people outside the car would see the colour. As the car owner/driver, I don't feel it is more spacious or any more comfy than a black car.

Why do I want a car looks (in others' eye) bigger than it is?

Why do I want to look (in others' eye) younger than I am?

Why do I want to look (in others' eye) richer and live in a richer house (for myself) than my financial status, by mortgaging?

Why wouldn't I want people see me old and not rich? Are they such a bad thing?

domestic violence leave

We have heard only too much of
"I won't do it again."
"I am angry and lose control because I love you so much."
"Don't make me do it."

Is it worth it to risk what may happen next time?

Support domestic violence victims to stand up, supporting "domestic violence leave".

Each mortal is a Buddha; each annoyance is a wisdom

The Sixth Patriarch Zen Master Hui Neng said, over than a millennium ago...
“Each mortal is a Buddha; each annoyance is a wisdom.”

Below, I will use “ordinary people” to replace “mortal” and “mind irritants” to replace “annoyance”, to describe my understanding of his teaching. Comments are appreciated.

The Nature of Buddha, Wisdom, Ordinary Person and mind irritant.

Every ordinary person can become a Buddha, every mind irritant can become a wisdom. A Buddha is an evolved ordinary person; a wisdom is an evolved mind irritant.

Sometimes a mind irritant resolves itself; sometimes a mind irritant is resolved or removed with assistance from others. One doesn't benefit from such resolutions. It is only through the permanent change of perspective that mind irritants can lead to wisdom. (How to permanently change a perspective to evolve a mind irritant? We may discuss it in another post.)

An evolved mind irritant becomes one’s wisdom; however, an unresolved mind irritant is inherent in being an ordinary person.

Growth of Wisdom

Wisdom grows after a mind irritant is resolved through the maintaining of a new perspective. Wisdom withers when a new perspective is not remembered and reverts to the old one.

Without Mind Irritants, There is No Buddha.

Mind irritants are the essential raw material to building wisdom.

Stressed? In trouble?

I wish one of the lines could help.

Notes:
I use “Mortal” to represent the meaning of凡夫”. In Chinese, it means ordinary people that are prone to irritations from annoyances.
I use “annoyance” to represent the meaning of “煩惱”. In Chinese, it means “mind irritants”, includes annoyance, troubles, stressors and distress.
